Targeting and eligibility

Targeting decides which items count toward a threshold and which items get rewarded. Choose one scope per campaign, optionally exclude items, and understand what auto-join really does.

Targeting is the "which items" part of a campaign. It does two jobs at once: it decides which items count toward the threshold, and which items get the reward. Narrowing the scope narrows both sides together.

One scope per campaign

A campaign targets one scope at a time: the whole store, or specific products, or collections, or variants, or tags. You cannot combine products and collections in a single campaign. If you need two different targets, run two campaigns.

Whole storeEverything, no picks
ProductsUp to 150 products
VariantsUp to 150 variants
CollectionsUp to 100 collections
TagsUp to 100 tags

Note

Today you only see a limit if you exceed it, when the builder flags the overflow. A proactive hint before you reach the cap is on the roadmap.

The exclude list

When you target specific products or variants, you can add an exclude list. Excluded items neither count toward the threshold nor receive the reward. The exclude list takes product or variant picks only, so you cannot exclude a tag or a collection.

Watch out

If an item is in both lists, exclude wins

If you accidentally put the same item in both the include and exclude lists, the item is left out. The builder does not warn on that overlap yet, so double-check your lists.

Auto-join new products

Auto-join appears only for collection or tag campaigns and is on by default. It controls what happens when a product later starts matching your targeted collection or tag.

Membership is always evaluated live at checkout. A product that later matches your collection or tag gets the discount with no re-publish, exactly like Shopify’s own collection discounts. Turning auto-join off does not freeze membership: matching products still get the discount. What changes is that the app raises a targeting drift warning on your dashboard, naming the collection or tag and the new product, so you can decide whether you want it in the deal.

Tip

There is no snapshot of membership. If you want a fixed set of products that never changes, target the specific products or variants directly rather than a collection or tag.
