Tiers and rewards

A tier is a threshold plus a reward. Build a single tier or a ladder, understand each reward type, and know how amounts and fixed prices behave at checkout.

Every campaign is built from tiers. A tier is a threshold (a minimum quantity or a minimum spend) plus a reward. You can have one tier or a ladder of several. All tiers in one campaign use the same kind of threshold, and the highest threshold the shopper reaches is the one that applies.

Thresholds must be distinct

Two tiers cannot share the same threshold. If you type a duplicate, you see the error the moment you type it, both inline on the tier and in the review summary, not only at publish time.

Reward types by campaign

Campaign typeReward types
VolumePercentage off, Amount off each, Fixed price each
Buy X Get YFree or a percentage off the get items
Cart GoalPercentage off or Amount off the order
Free ShippingPercentage off shipping (100 = fully free)
Free GiftThe gift product, 100 percent off
Which rewards each type allows

Amount off never goes below free

An amount-off reward can never make an item cost less than free. If your "$30 off" is larger than the item’s price, the item simply becomes free. Values cannot be negative, and Buy X Get Y percentages are capped at 100.

How fixed price behaves

A fixed price sets a target price per unit. It is worked out at checkout from the item’s live price, so if you change a product’s price after publishing, the discount recalculates automatically. A fixed price set above the current price applies no discount until the price rises above it. A fixed price is a per-unit target, not a whole-cart total.

Note

The app detects stacking conflicts between campaigns, but it does not yet warn when a reward amount or fixed price has drifted out of line with a product’s current price. Review your rewards after big price changes.

Reference

Worked reward outcomes (input price in, discounted price out) will be generated from the tested golden fixtures.

The highest tier reached wins

When a shopper qualifies for more than one tier, only the highest one they reach applies, not all of them added together. A three-tier "spend $100 / $200 / $300" ladder gives a shopper at $250 the $200 reward.
